Our Process
Our Process
Foundational Planning Process
Of course this process starts with you – after all, it’s your future we’re talking about. We want to know you – what do you value, what do you want to do both now and in retirement. We use a client-centric process focused on pursuing specific milestones we create together. Our comprehensive, three-step planning process is designed to help identify your needs, implement your strategy, and monitor it to help you stay on course.
Discovery
We begin by asking you to complete a confidential personal profile that helps us gain a deep understanding of your current financial situation and goals. You’ll be asked to prepare a few things in advance, and though not required, this preparation will assist in the process. Before we talk about what we are going to do, I need to know what you want. I also need to know what you’re doing now. This is the foundation of the work we’ll do together. This initial meeting is often described as a ‘conversation’ and kept in the strictest of confidence. It serves as an opportunity for all of us to get to know one another.
Design
We provide a detailed analysis of your finances, develop a variety of customized strategies, and offer recommendations to address your future needs. I look at what financial planning and/or investment management strategies will help you get closer to your goals as well as collaboration with tax and or legal advisors to consider your tax and estate plans, any risk factors or unique circumstances before designing your comprehensive plan.
Deploy
We’ll talk through my recommendations, any questions you have and make adjustments as needed. Once we select the best approach, your personalized plan is put into action. We then maintain consistent communication with you, carefully monitoring your portfolio and making adjustments, when necessary.
Establishing a financial planning and investment management relationship requires open communication and trust. You should expect nothing less from us. There are no limits to the questions you can ask us and we are fully transparent in our process, investment selection, and fees.
What is a Comprehensive Financial Plan?
As you invest and save for retirement, you may hear or read about it — but what does that phrase really mean? Just what does comprehensive financial planning entail, and why do knowledgeable investors request this kind of approach?
Comprehensive financial planning considers the entirety of your financial life.
Your assets, your liabilities, your taxes, your income, your business — these aspects of your financial life are never isolated from each other. Occasionally or frequently, they interrelate. Comprehensive financial planning recognizes this interrelation and takes a systematic, integrated approach toward improving your financial situation.
Comprehensive financial planning is holistic.
It is about more than money. A comprehensive financial plan is not only built around your goals, but also around your core values. What matters most to you in life? How does your wealth relate to that? What should your wealth help you accomplish? What could it accomplish for others?
Comprehensive financial planning is about a process, not a product.
Financial products are everywhere, and simply putting money into an investment is not a gateway to getting rich, nor a solution to your financial issues.
Comprehensive financial planning is long range.
It presents a strategy for the accumulation, maintenance, and eventual distribution of your wealth, in a written plan to be implemented and fine-tuned over time.
A comprehensive financial plan is a collaboration & results in an ongoing relationship.
Since the plan is goal-based and values-rooted, both the investor and the financial professional involved have spent time on its articulation. There are shared responsibilities between them. That continuing engagement promotes commitment and a view of success.
Think of a comprehensive financial plan as your compass.
The plan provides not only direction, but also an integrated strategy to try and better your overall financial life over time. As the years go by, this approach may do more than make money for you — it may help you to build and retain lifelong wealth, and leave a lasting legacy.
